Mountain West basketball RPI update

Throughout the 2006-2007 basketball season we will keep you updated on all of the Mountain West teams and how they stand in the computerized RPI rankings. Here is the first of these updates with our December 26th update.

#20 - UNLV - 11-2
#34 - Air Force - 11-1
#53 - San Diego State - 10-3
#76 - New Mexico - 9-2
#100 - BYU - 7-4

BYU wins Las Vegas Bowl by crushing Oregon 38-8

December 25th, 2006

The BYU Cougars came out firing by beating upon the Oregon Ducks on Dec. 21 in the Las Vegas Bowl. Las Vegas Bowl MVP Jonny Harline caught 9 passes for 181 yards and BYU QB John Beck threw for 375 yards and 2 TDs. With the win, BYU finished the season 11-2, their best season since 2001. The Las Vegas Bowl win was BYU’s 10th straight win of the year and their first bowl victory since 1996.

Mountain West Conference sends four teams bowling

Four Mountain West Conference football teams will be bowling this year as all bowl games have now been finalized. MWC Champion BYU (10-2, 8-0 MWC), TCU (10-2, 6-2), Utah (7-5, 5-3) and New Mexico (6-6, 4-4) all have bowling dates this holiday season.
