UFC 105 takes place in Manchester, England on Saturday night November 14 as fans will be treated to a free Spike TV broadcast of the Ultimate Fighting Championship on the same night as the big Pacquiao vs Cotto boxing match. The UFC event will mark the first time that fan-favorite Randy Couture will fight live on Spike TV. Below is the preview of one of the UFC 105 fights, but fans can go to ProFighting-fans.com for complete UFC 105 predictions as well as the UFC 105 results for November 14 fights.
Terry Etim vs. Shannon Gugerty
Lanky Brit Terry Etim (13-2) will make his fourth straight appearance on an English-based UFC card when he meets 27 year-old California native, Shannon Gugerty (12-3) at UFC 105. Both fighters come into the November event off of impressive performances. Etim secured a brabo choke at UFC 99, defeating Justin Buchholz during the 2nd round of their June meeting. Gugerty was in action in July at UFC 100 when he stopped Matt Grice with a guillotine at the 2:36 mark of the 1st round.
After beginning his career with a mediocre 3-2 start, all taking place within the Total Combat organization, Gugerty won seven straight earning himself a place on the July 2008 UFC – Fight Night 14 card. His opponent at FN 14 happened to be then-undefeated Team Sityodtong’s Dale Hartt. Gugerty closed up shop early on Hartt, slapping a rear naked choke on at the 3:33 mark. Three months after his debut win and the 5’10” lightweight was back in action, this time as a replacement for Melvin Guillard against contender Spencer Fisher at UFC 90. Gugerty hung tough for all but 1:04 when Fisher converted on his triangle choke attempt and handed Gugerty his first promotional loss. Gugerty has since rebounded with his victory at the monumental UFC 100.
Terry Etim is a fighter that joined the UFC early in 2007 as an undefeated prospect with unlimited potential. Coming in as the Cage Warriors lightweight champion, Etim had a lot of expectations for his UFC career. He got off to a rocky beginning; after a win in his debut, he was dealt back-to-back losses at UFC 75 and UFC 84. With his future in the UFC in doubt, the lightning-fast striker consistently improved over his next three bouts. He outlasted Sam Stout at UFC 89, used a head kick and punches to earn a (technical) knockout against Brian Cobb at UFC 95 and then pounced on a downed Buchholz to convert his seldom seen brabo choke at UFC 99.
Prediction – Etim over Gugerty via TKO
