Penguins sweep Senators with 3-1 win

The Pittsburgh Penguins are the first team to advance to the Stanley Cup Playoffs’ 2nd round as they defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-1 last night to complete the Pens’ 4-0 sweep of Ottawa. With the win the #2 seed Penguins advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals to face the winner of #3 Washington vs. #6 Philadelphia or the winner of #4 New Jersey vs. #5 NY Rangers; the Flyers lead Washington 2-1 heading into tonight’s Game #4 while the Rangers have a 3-1 lead on New Jersey heading into tomorrow’s Game #5.

Penguins look for sweep, Red Wings & Rangers look to take 3-1 lead

It’s hockey time once again tonight with three games underway in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. The games kick off with the Pittsburgh Penguins looking to sweep the Ottawa Senators as Pittsburgh leads 3-0 heading into tonight’s Game #4 in Ottawa. Meanwhile, in the two other games being played tonight are pivotal in each series. The New York Rangers have a 2-1 lead playing at home against the New Jersey Devils while the Detroit Red Wings also lead their series 2-1 and play @ the Nashville Predators. These games are pivotal because a loss means a 2-2 series while a win for NY or Detroit means a commanding 3-1 lead.

Pro Hockey Fans, a NHL fan site located at www.prohockey-fans.com, has been providing daily coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and has added their NHL Playoffs weekend updates. In the Eastern Conference Playoffs, Montreal has a 2-1 lead over Boston while New York and New Jersey are unable to win home games.
