The #2 seeded Memphis Tigers proved to be Elite again in 2007, but just like their 2006 squad, the Elite 8 was the end of the road. The Tigers fell to the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 92-76 today, ending the nation’s longest winning streak of 25 games. Shooting and fouls were the difference in this game as OSU out-shot the Tigers at a 51% clip to 40%. Meanwhile, the Tigers were whistled for 29 fouls; 14 more fouls than Ohio State was whistled for.

It’s halftime in the Elite 8 where the #2 Memphis Tigers trail the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 41-38. The Tigers are led by Jeremy Hunt’s 16 points and are shooting just 11-28 from the field as a team. Meanwhile, the Tigers’ defense is allowing OSU to shoot 50% from the field at 15-30. Memphis also does not seem to be the favorites in the yes of the officiating crew as the Tigers have been whistled for 12 fouls to Ohio State’s 8.

In a game that was back and forth all night, Antonio Anderson was able to hit two clutch free throws with 3.1 seconds remaining as the #2 Memphis Tigers defeated #3 seed Texas A&M Aggies 65-64. The win for the Tigers was their 25th straight win and propels them into a Saturday match-up in the Elite 8 with the winner of #1 Ohio State vs. #5 Tennessee.

There was question about the injured ankle for Chris Douglas-Roberts, but those questions seem to have been answered. While the Tigers lead 21-19 with 10:18 remaining in the first half in tonight’s Sweet 16 match-up with Texas A&M, Douglas-Roberts has responded with 9 points early and a couple of nice slam-dunks.
