2006 C-USA Baseball

by @ 2:51 pm. Filed under C-USA Baseball

Well guys…Football is over (for the most part) and Basketball is in full stride but soon it will be time for Baseball season. Ahhh!!..I can picture it now…the beauty of a chalked Diamond, and the smell of a freshly cut outfield. Yes..Baseball will soon be upon us!! So, for the next few weeks I will be posting a sneak peak at each C-USA Baseball team. Giving you their lineups, strengths, weaknesses, and possible finishing spot come tournament time.

With this said, I encourage everyone to post their opinions on the team they cheer for, plus feel free to give comments on any other article I post. (or if you like, tell me how awesome of a job I am doing..ha).

The New Orleans Bowl was one of those events, which had to be moved from its usual site, the Super Dome in downtown New Orleans, to Cajun Field in Lafayette, LA. So when Southern Miss was invited to the bowl I over-heard some fans complaining that Lafayette could never live up to the excitement of New Orleans. Well, they received an A+ in my book…if not for the experience then definitely for the effort put forward.

I had the joy of going to the New Orleans bowl in Lafayette last Tuesday to watch the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (C-USA) play the Arkansas State Indians (Sun Belt). When someone says lets go to the New Orleans Bowl the first thought is “Awesome”, a weekend on Bourbon Street plus watching the team you love!! But going to Lafayette!?! Expectations fall just a bit but when your a fan, you do what must be done, meaning you pack your bags and travel to support your team. So me, my brother, and two friends loaded up and headed down, to the deep south.

Now, let me go ahead and let you know. I’m a Southern Miss Fan and like other Southern Miss fans we feel disappointed in playing in any bowl other than the Liberty (its important to have high expectations for your team), so the New Orleans bowl had our fans a little sad. So the mood at first (
