Ohio State #1, Wisconsin #1 - What gives?
So the Ohio State Buckeyes are the #1 basketball team in the land. And so are the Wisconsin Badgers. What gives? Let’s take a look at the rankings.
Ohio State is #1 in the ESPN/USA Today poll, but who have they beat in 2006-2007? Tennessee? Indiana? These guys are not even in the Top 25. Michigan State? A great program with a great coach, but this is not a great year for MSU. So far the Buckeyes are 24-3 and have lost to #5 North Carolina, #3 Florida and…#1/2 Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is #1 in the AP poll with their two losses on the road to Missouri State and Indiana. In the lone head-to-head game they actually beat Ohio State, and they have one less loss.
Could the Buckeyes be here because they have the big name athletics department and the big-name player in Greg Oden?
