Another Big Ten bowl game, another loss
After a disappointing kickoff to the 2006-2007 bowl season for the Big Ten as both Minnesota and Purdue lost in their bowl games on Friday, the Iowa Hawkeyes had a chance to right the ship for the Big Ten on Saturday. Playing in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas against the defending Nation Champion Texas Longhorns, the Hawkeyes came in a 9.5 point underdog. Despite an early 14-0 lead in the 1st Quarter and a 21-20 lead heading into the 4th Quarter, the Hawkeyes could not hold on as the Longhorns won 26-24.
With the loss the Big Ten falls to 0-3 in bowl games in 2006-2007 with four bowl games remaining. While Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State all can make the bowl season a positive one still, only OSU is favored in their bowl game.
