Fighting Irish notch 8th in a row with win over Ospreys
Notre Dame kept their record at home unblemished, defeating North Florida 77-58 on Monday afternoon. The Irish improved their home record to 8-0 and have won eight straight games, their last loss coming back on Nov.19th, a one-point loss to Georgia Tech.
Rob Kurz led the Irish with a double-double, scoring 23 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Kurz had six points during an Irish 16-0 run early in the second half as Notre Dame seized control of the game and put North Florida in their rear-view mirror.
Notre Dame led 27-18 at halftime, in spite of their 3-of-12 shooting from 3-point range. Kurz had 10 points at the break, while the other four starters for Notre Dame only combined for 15 points. Luke Harangody rebounded from a 2-of-6 first half and nailed 6-of-9 shots in the second half and finished the afternoon with 22 points.
Stan Januska led North Florida with 14 points and Tom Hammonds added 12 points. The Ospreys dropped their ninth straight game and lost their 40th consecutive road game, falling to 1-11 on the season.
Notre Dame will get their first Big East action Thursday at 7 p.m. when they’ll host West Virginia.
