BU Drains Two Big Threes, Cuts Into UT Lead At 76-72
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — The Baylor Bears, somehow, are back in the fight.

After a huge three-pointer by Dunn, followed by a steal and three by Dugat, Baylor finds themselves down just four, 76-72, with 1:05 remaining.

And the Horns were just forced to call a timeout after full-court Baylor defense prevented Texas from passing the ball inbounds.

Abrams Drains Three-Pointer After Bears Claw Back Within 10
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — If the Bears have a hot-steak left in them, now is the time to break it out.

Texas’ A.J. Abrams just hit a big three for the Horns to put them back up by 13.

Baylor, down 74-61 with 3:39 left in regulation, need to start hitting some shots - and fast - as well as play solid defense down the stretch if they want to get back into this one.

Bears Battling Back, But Still Down 68-54 With 7:38 Left
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — The Baylor Bears couldn’t be shooting much better than they are here in the second half.

Unfortunately for BU, the Horns are just as hot.

With 7:38 left in the game, Baylor is down by 14 points and needs to make some big stops - as well as hit some big shots - if they want to get back into this one.

Shooting Clinic Has Bears Down 55-42 As Teams Come Out Hot
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — Despite LaceDarius “Kool” Dunn’s attempts to bring Baylor ever close to Texas, the Bears still find themselves on the short end of the stick - down 55-42 with 14:17 left in the game.

Both teams have been hot in the second half, as Dunn drained three straight three-pointers and UT answered almost every time.

Texas Takes 34-28 Lead Into Halftime, Bears Continue To Claw Back

Texas Takes 34-28 Lead Into Halftime, Bears Continue To Claw Back
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — The Baylor Bears refuse to go away, battling back time and time again as Texas holds a 34-28 lead at the break.

Despite a first half that saw BU shoot miserably from the field, the Bears have hung in the contest - giving the home crowd a lot to cheer about as Baylor hits the locker rooms at the midway mark.

After falling behind by double-figures, Scott Drew’s Bears have clawed back into the game - with Baylor putting on a late scoring drive to cut the Horns lead to just six points through the first half of play.

And don’t count Baylor out when they are down at halftime — in fact, it appears as though BU prefers it that way, having made multiple comeback runs this season in the second half.

Anyone who keeps up with the green and gold knows that the Bears live and die by the three-point shot — and early on, Baylor’s three-point shots just aren’t falling.

Look for Baylor to come out shooting to begin the second half though, as Drew and the coaching staff have a lot to be proud of with BU down just six at the break.

As the Bears’ Kevin Rogers told me prior to tonight’s match-up, rebounding will be a key to a BU victory — and thus far, Rogers has done his part in pulling down some big boards for the home team.

In just over eight minutes, Baylor and Texas will exit their locker rooms and hit the hardwood for 20 more minutes of action.

If the Bears can come out hot — continuing to focus on the basics while searching to get their shooting touch back — they have a good chance of upsetting the Horns tonight in Waco.

Stick around, fans, this one is going to come down to the wire — just as the prior four match-ups with Texas have been…

Check back soon for second half live blogging, and be sure to check back at the game’s conclusion for postgame notes, quotes and more…

Baylor Remains Cold, Officials Help Texas Cause As Horns Take 21-13 Lead
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — I am sure coach Scott Drew doesn’t want to lose to Texas due to poor officiating.

But that’s not the only reason the Drew’s Bears are behind 21-13 with 7:50 left in the first half.

BU has begun the game shooting ice cold - and they hope to break out of that soon as they aim to make this a game against Rick Barnes’ Horns.

Bears Claw Back, Make It 12-9 Near Midpoint Of First Half
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — The Baylor Bears are making a game of this, despite poor shooting early on.

With the Bears going just 4-for-20 to begin play, BU is still in the fight - down just three at 12-9 with 11:47 remaining in the first half.

Texas Takes Early 9-4 Lead Over Bears
By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

WACO, Texas — Baylor is down early, behind 9-4 with 15:34 left in the first half of play.

And the main reason the Bears are down is due to poor shooting from the field, as BU has been cold early on - going just 2-for-12.

But BU has had some good looks, and I am looking for the Bears to knock a few down here shortly and make this a close game…
