ACC prepares to go bowling

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

The conference will kick off its portion of the bowl season on December 26th (4:30) as North Carolina faces Pittsburgh in what should be a great Meineke Car Care Bowl.  The same night at 8:00 the Boston College Golden Eagles will face the Trojans of Southern California.  December 27th will serve as a post Christmas treat as Clemson will battle Kentucky in the Music City Bowl.  The Hurricanes of Miami will face a rugged Wisconsin squad on December 29th in front of a prime time audience at the Champs Sports Bowl.  Virginia Tech will face the defensive minded Tennessee Volunteers on New Years Eve at 7:30 in what is sure to be a slug fest.  The Florida State Seminoles will battle West Virginia on New Year’s Day in legend Bobby Bowden’s last game at the Gator Bowl.  In the conference’s lone BCS appearance, Georgia Tech will look to run the ball in the teeth of the Iowa defense on January 5th at the Orange Bowl. Bowden, Florida State seem headed for the Gator Bowl against WVU

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

With Bobby Bowden having announced his retirement this week, the FSU administration and the ACC are looking to let him go out on his own terms. The ACC and Florida State are currently working with the Gator Bowl to ensure that Bobby Bowden’s final game as head coach is not only in the state of Florida, but also against his former team, the West Virginia Mountaineers, who he coached from 1970-1975.

The Gator Bowl is set to be played on January 1st, 2010 with a 1 pm kickoff on CBS according to the college football bowl schedule.
